Cecilia Cassini is an 11-Year-Old designer whose boisterous style has earned the praise of the celebrity world. Now she is set to star in her own reality show. Get the details here, and see photos and video below.
It would be easy (and a bit cliché) to sit back and bemoan the loss of innocence that is so pervasive in today’s youth. Instead, I’ll highlight the accomplishments of a talented young girl who is building an empire for herself.
You see, kids can’t win these days. Either they’re considered lazy, disrespectful, gadget obsessed Internet fiends, or they’re the subjects of much finger wagging for ‘growing up too fast.’
Such is the case for Cecilia Cassini, who at 11-years-old has worked her way into celebrity circles, rubbed elbows with serious adult designers, and even landed a new reality show. It all started, she says, with ‘cutting up clothes’ when she was even younger, and altering them to her liking.
Along with Madonna’s little girl Lourdes, Cecilia is taking the kids’ clothing world by storm. She already has her own line. The clothes are available at a well-known California boutique, and you can also buy her looks online.
The NY Post explains why younger designers are so well suited to design for their peers.
“For one thing, teens are crazy for the latest fashions and ready to snap up what they like…One in five 16-to-24-year-olds spent more on clothing last year than they normally would, according to research that was reported in the Independent.”
The real challenge is to remain relevant after growing older. Some young designers find that as they exit the teenage years, they lose touch with what’s hot in the realm of kids fashion. Only time will tell if this little one can stay on top.
