Tips for Male Model Casting

People who get their names listed at the end of a movie or in a book become just as much a part of history as the writers, actors and others who are part of the production. There are lots of ways to become part of history but being up on that big screen every time a movie is played is something quite unique. Imagine the feeling people must have seeing their name in the credits of a movie, a book or something else that is seen all over the world.

Arts and Entertainment:Music from EzineArticles.com

I can still remember how it was when I was still learning how to play the guitar. It was in my freshman year in college when it occurred to me that I really should learn another skill. It was not easy at first, but thanks to the simple tips my mentors shared to me, I was able to play my first song after three days. Here are some of the most useful tips:

4 Bands Similar To Lemon Jelly

It's way things have always been, the best work was always done in a professional setting. Of course there are always exceptions like moms home cooking but for the most part, particularly when it came to music recording, it was always best to do it in a professional recording studio. So now the computer is testing some of these time tested truisms because you can now buy and use your own recording software.

Sophie Moulds: Kate Middleton Lookalike Crowned Miss Wales

Sophie Moulds is the new Miss Wales and a Kate Middleton doppelganger! She is absolutely stunning and the resemblance between herself and The duchess is incredible. Sophie was just crowned Miss Wales 2012 and will now go on to compete in the Miss World competition in Mongolia this July.  I definitely think she will be a favorite, as just her resemblance to Kate Middleton has gained her a ton of popularity.     The 19 year old is taking the complements as a huge complement! Moulds said:   “It’s a great honor. I was a bit shocked when people started saying I look like Kate. But I’m a huge fan of her – she is such a natural beauty and very stylish. I take it as a great compliment…I’m amazed to be compared to Kate – she is such a great ambassador for our country. I will be trying to do the same when I represent Wales in Miss World.”   Both Sophie and Kate are 5 ft 10 inches tall with long dark hair, light eyes, perfect smile, and similar figures. They also seem to have similar taste in clothes, as there are a ton of photos of Sophie and Kate [...]

Ashton Kutcher As Steve Jobs: First Look!

Woah! Ashton Kutcher really is a dead ringer for a younger Steve Jobs.

FOURTH Man Steps Forward To Accuse John Travolta Of Sexual Misconduct!

John Travolta and his legal team are certainly going to have a lot of explaining to do!

Not even Johnny Depp could detract from the cashcow that has become The Avengers!

While his new movie Dark Shadows was predicted to put a dent in the box office of Joss Whedon's record-breaking superhero extravaganza, Tim Burton's horror remake debuted to about $29 million this weekend, while the latter grossed around $103.2 million from Friday to Sunday alone!

And THAT, friends, means that it is the FIRST film EVER to reach nine digits in its second domestic weekend, as well as make over $1 BILLION worldwide!

Yes. You're reading correctly: A BILLION!

Incredible!

And according to fans and critics alike, very well-deserved!

We are just weeks away from the release of Garbage‘s new album Not Your Kind of People and today we get to preview another new track from the disc titled Big Bright World. This post is going to be a bit self-indulgent so, please bear with me. Yesterday afternoon, I had grand expectations about getting out onto the streets of NYC and running along the Hudson River — and it was going to be PERFECT. The reality was that after a day of flying and a night of not sleeping well, I probably wasn’t ready to enjoy the run of a lifetime. After I did my work yesterday, I decided to get out and run … but after my expectations weren’t met, I ended up having a crappy day … and I have no one to blame but myself.

I have a lot of excuses as to why my run yesterday wasn’t the best (didn’t eat, didn’t sleep, blah blah blah) but in the end, I let myself psyche myself out. I started out strong then crashed out midway thru my run. Instead of focusing on the positives (the amazing weather, the beautiful scenery, the fact that I was able FOR THE FIRST TIME to run with other runners) I immediately got pissed, hated the entire run and let my mood sink into pitiful anger. I was in no mood to do anything for the rest of the day … and that is sad because I don’t get to experience NYC as much as I used to. I sat in front of the TV and found an episode of The Golden Girls. Those funny ladies cheered me up, got me out of my funk and helped me put the day in perspective:

I’ve come to the realization that I place far too many expectations on myself when it comes to running. I’ve only been running for a month and half and I already expect myself to be this perfect runner who never fails. It’s silly. It’s going to be hard but from here on out I’m going to try and just do my best and enjoy my workouts … even if they’re not perfect. I went out for a long walk last night here in Manhattan and I managed to salvage my day. You’d be surprised how much a Happy Meal from McD’s can lighten your mood ;) Never discount the power of little plastic toy prizes.

Today, David and I are going to meet our good friend Marissa and Ryan’s newborn baby boy Max. Then, I’m going to experience Central Park. I’m gonna run a bit, I’m sure I’m gonna walk a bit … but I’m going to enjoy myself one way or the other.

Happy Saturday!

Effectively Making Your Customer Service Better Through the Use of Social Media

I am still found hunting in my dreams for answers why man is so contaminated; although they are like deep shadows in the woods, silent alertness to the figures that come and go-swift and softly they fly by me, no indiscretion. Sometimes I try to repel the advance of the old vintage sumptuous building of a heroic ending, knowing my real age is not my dream age-and this is impossible for me at times, to stick to reality, but it is offered freely-this heroic dream state, but I suppose even in the woods, these woods, my mind tells my subconscious tells me, now its chief pleasure is in a kind of an elegant ending-that's how it should be, not how it is or will be, or was: why stick to reality, let's go to the impossible...

Being Born

Scene: Near midnight, in the dojo where I lived it is quiet, the night outside is still and calm, you can hear a few cars and horns now and then, but calm and quiet for the most part. It is at 97 Collingwood Street in San Francisco, it is the summer of 1968. I am living at the Dojo, until I find an apartment, I am studying karate under the Chief Instructor, Master Goesi Yamaguchi, no one else, black belts or whomever will stay overnight in this Dojo, they have, and have told me time and again, it is haunted. I have now lived here going on three months. I sleep on a couch facing the dojo, and its arched entrance. I am awoken this evening by some noises...

Taylor Swift...pop country superstar and...folk singer?

Looks like Taylor may be hopping in a Big Yellow Taxi, headed for the silver screen!

Reportedly, Swifty is eyeing up the role of Joni Mitchell in the film adaptation of the book, Girls Like Us by Sheila Weller!

Though Taylor has already gotten her feet wet appearing in the rom-com Valentine’s Day along with every other celeb back in 2010, this would be her FIRST time taking on a dramatic role!

Girls Like Us will feature a look inside the life and career of Joni Mitchell, along with fellow singers, Carly Simon and Carole King!!

No official offer is on the table yet for Taylor, but other actresses have already been auditioning to take up the roles of Simon and King.

The film, though not yet greenlit, is hoping to plan filming around the three leads’ schedules later this year.

Wow, this would definitely be something new for Taylor!!! We could definitely see her playing Joni!

In 2002, the city introduced new tax incentives aimed at filmmakers to encourage them to relocate much of their production to Louisiana.

Sherri Shepherds Emotional DWTS Elimination (Video)

Sherri Shepherd was sent packing last night on Dancing With The Stars! Tears were flowing as the fan favorite ended her time in the ballroom. You can see her emotional good-bye right here, trust me though you are going to need some tissues. I was shocked when I learned that Sherri and her partner Val Chmerkovskiy had not only landed in the bottom two but that they were the team eliminated. I was not expecting them to go, nor was I expecting The View co-host to get so emotional. Although Shepherd was crying over her having to leave the ballroom she gave a great speech and left fans with some words of wisedom. “To every person out there that the thing that scares you most, run toward it, because it’s so amazing on the other side.” As I said above I was shocked when Shepherd was the one eliminated last night. I mean she has been a fan favorite from the get go and she was doing a bang up job on the dances too. I think she got the crap end of the deal and that Roshon Fegan should have been gone before Sherri. Nothing against the Disney star [...]

British Boy Band One Direction Show Off Their Bods And Cause Hysteria On Sydney Harbor

The British pop lads, One Direction, have made their way down under to Oz land for their promotional tour (yes, Sydney seems like the place to be for celebs this week!) The quintet, Liam Payne, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan have been doing interviews all around town and yesterday had a [...]

In the lead up to the release of the poignant documentary film Bully, which deals with one of the most relevant and important issues today, we look at which celebs have opened up about being bullied as kids or teens. The great thing about this new docu-film is that it is giving a profile to an issue that has been around for decades, forever perhaps, but never fully dealt with. I know so many young people (myself included) who were bullied at one time or another in their lives, and not always at school; it happens in workplaces too. We often forget that it happens to celebrities too, and hearing about this will hopefully make others out there realize that it has nothing to do with them — but the bullies and the culture encouraging them. Some of the most successful and idolized stars today were bullied when they were younger… Lady Gaga, Madonna, Eminem, Zooey Deschanel and Winona Ryder to just name a few. Check out our gallery of celebs that were bullied, and what they have to say about it now.

Leann Rimes To Write Tell All Book?

Is country singer Leann Rimes getting ready to write a tell all book about the demise of her marriage and her affair with now husband Eddie Cibrian? Man I sure hope so! There are numerous reports circulating that Rimes is in the process of writing a very candid book about her very public affair with Cibrian that ultimately caused the end of both of their marriages. Now a rep for the actress has released a statement that simply says she is “putting out some feelers to find the right person who can help her write an autobiography and tell her side of the story, in her own voice.” I would say that based on what statement says that yes Leann is going to write a tell all and I for one can’t wait to read it. My only hope is that she actually gives fans the juicy details they are looking for; don’t judge me you know you were all thinking the same thing. We want the real dish not a revised version of it. This is Rimes chance to speak to her fans and really get her side of the story out. God knows there has been so much [...]

How Singing Can Help You Make Friends

One of the leading lights of Hollywood's Sunset Strip in the '80's, guitarist Tracii Guns' hard rock outfit, L.A. Guns, never reached the heights of fame achieved by contemporaries like Motley Crue, Van Halen or Guns N' Roses. Still, for fans of their brand of rough and ready rock, they were one of the top contenders, and their no nonsense approach has dated less over the years than some of their contemporaries. Here's five songs that should secure L.A. Guns place in the pantheon of hard rock legends.

The Best L.A. Guns Songs

It is hard to overstate the significance of the blues in modern and contemporary music. Almost all forms of popular music today are characterized by blues influences, whether it be from Adele or the Black Keys, or from the Beatles to Nirvana. Blues melodies have become a staple form of music and so familiar on the ear that they are able to cross genres as seamlessly as we drift from one season into the next. What is it exactly, though that has made the blues so popular?

Electra Heart is the name of Marina Diamandis' new album, and she says it's an ode to dysfunctional love!

Apparently it was inspired by a break up (Helllllloooo Adele!), but she doesn't wanna play the victim!

Here's what she said:

"I wanted to create a cold, ruthless character who wasn't vulnerable. On my new songs, I wanted to flick the situation around. I didn't want to come across as a victim. I'm not a bitch, but I wanted to expose that side of my character. I wanted to address the things that women don't usually talk about. Nobody will admit to playing power games in relationships, but they do."

Hell yeah! That sounds so fab!

We can't wait for April 30th in that case, because she's very, very proud of this album:

"My first album wasn't a flop, but it wasn't a wild success. This one is more assured, and I feel it will come to define my career. I've always been honest about my ambitions. There's no shame in that. You need a certain level of narcissism to do this job."

You sure do, as long as you can reel it all back in once in a while -- all narcissism all the time is going to put people off!

We're excited to hear it, Marina! Good luck!

If you, reader, go to a town called Sion in Switzerland to a church called Valere you might be able to hear the world's oldest organ being played. This organ was constructed around the 1400's and is still in use. Apparently many of the songs played replicate medieval songs and are very bright in nature and are similar to old folk songs.

Firstly, I have to share the GREAT news that I finally broke the 4 mile mark on my run yesterday. In these final days leading up to my first 5K this Saturday, I was scheduled to run 3 miles yesterday. I hit 3 miles fairly easily and decided to keep going. I ended up running 4.3 miles — my longest distance yet! After I run my 5K on Sat, I’ll be looking for a 10K race to tackle in the near future ;) After my great workout yesterday, I met up with my Detroit homegirl Adriana for dinner at Coney Dog on the Sunset Strip. It was so great seeing her after all these months.

Coney Dog, as I’ve blogged before, is a Detroit-owned and operated Coney Island here in LA and is the BEST place to get Detroit coneys outside of the Motor City. Adriana and I decided to go there for our hang session. In between stuffing our faces with deliciousness, we traded stories, catching up on one another’s lives. It was really fun getting to see her … we’re planning our next hang for Thursday night (while she has free time on Spring Break).

Tonight, I’m meeting up with my friends Darion and Nicole at the Nokia Theater in Downtown LA to see Kelly Clarkson LIVE in concert. We bought these tickets AGES ago and the time has finally come. We’re all very excited so be on the look out for tweets and/or photos from the show. Happy Tuesday, y’all!

How Much Are Vinyl Records Worth?

Cleaning vinyl records is one of the more unfortunate parts of the vinyl addiction. No matter how neat and tidy you are, your vinyl records will occasionally need maintenance. If your records are not kept clean, they will play poorly as the dust particles will build up on the stylus, causing a fuzzy sound.

Vinyl Records: How To Clean Them

"Bohemian Rhapsody" is a traditional masterwork from the famous band "Queen" which was published in 1975. The CD "A night in Opera" is considered to be a brilliant duper hit and this record was ruling on the music charts. Freddy Mercury was the lyricist and the phrases included in this song resulted in a significant controversy. There was a claim that quite a few words were obtained from the holy Quran, which was not appropriate. This record was a great success and millions of records were sold in just nine weeks time, which was an awesome success for composers and the music business.

The Rising Fad of Popular Country Songs

Just recently I've become hooked on Jamie Cullum. I mean, what's not to love? He's a jazzy, poppy, bluesy dude who covers everyone from Rihanna to Jeff Buckley and he also covers old standards such as "I Only Have Eyes For You" and "I Get a Kick Out of You." But he's not just your standard cover artist. His original songs hold their own. He sings, plays piano and guitar and sometimes provides his own beat on the drums. If you haven't given this talented Brit a chance, I suggest that you do. He's got a little something for everyone.

The Hottest Girls In The Marvel Universe

We have all looked at a picture and gotten emotions from it. Be it happy, sad, enamored or even disgusted. We chose then if that is a picture we like. We may have bought pictures over the years that tell the story of who we used to be. You may have had a period where you loved waterfalls and bought them, or have been in a dark mood and bought many dark pictures that told of that time in your life.

Artwork Is a Living Representation of Our Lives

Las Ciruelas Street, being blind to the houses on the other side of the church, a squared neighborhood with a small park and the church in front of the white house, the house Chick Evens lived at, owned and lived in, was a quiet street except at certain hours and days, when the old lady from the apartment building next door brought out her seven dogs-to relieve themselves on the park's grass-the park was next to the church, in which they chased and barked and become simply a nuisance to anything or anybody or creature within ten feet of them; or the bicycle man on the corner of his street, kitty-corner from his white house, was giving exercises lessons to a horde of neighborhood children in the park across the street from his house; or when someone had a wedding at the church, and a big ceremony was involved, or when a few blocks away the disco noises converged in a single night upon them, a sensation, numbness they all felt, fought in the courts, it being a three-story nightclub, its proprietors, old mayors retired from public service...

What Is Ancient African Art?

Beauty of darkness is such that it is spread over the universe and yet it holds something intriguing beyond our imagination. Imagine yourself in your dark room at night while you cannot sleep and then see the numerous images you make out in the dark. Yes, that's what darkness does; it makes you see what is otherwise not visible or not even possible to visualize.

Facebook Takes A Stand Against Password Seeking Employers

Facebook has never been known for it's amazing privacy … but this is a definite step in the right direction!
They've certainly gotten better over the years, but almost everyone knows someone who got in trouble with an employer or was fired for something that ended up on Facebook.
Well, ever since stories have been coming out [...]

Hmph!!! Who do they think they are???

Poor 90-year old Audrey Geisel was just about to have security cameras installed when she realized her 2-foot bronze Lorax was missing from her garden!

The love of Dr. Seuss' life discovered foot prints, suggesting the "family pet" was dragged across the dirt, pulled over a fence, and then probably thrown into the back of a truck.

And poor Audrey just wants it back because it means so much to her. Not only is it iconic of her late husband's work, but her daughter was the one who made it!!

She pleads:

I want very badly to get our little Lorax back home where he belongs. Wherever he is, he’s scared, lonely and hungry. He’s not just a hunk of metal to us. He was a family pet.

I hope he hasn’t been taken across the border into Tijuana for scrap. Worst-case scenario, I’ll get the foundry to create another one, but he won’t be the same.

Awww.... this is so sad!!!

Seriously... return it, thief!! She won't press charges, she promises.

And we believe her! But if you don't, then we hope you can live with the guilt of taking Mrs. Seuss' beloved statue pet! Ugh...

First Look: The Total Recall Reboot Releases A First Teaser Trailer

Because Hollywood never seems to be able to think up new ideas, the decision was made to remake the 1990 film Total Recall. As you may know, those of you who have seen the original film, the original film starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sharon Stone. This 2012 remake will star Colin Farrell and Kate Beckinsale. [...]

Yesterday was a gym day for me and altho I have yet to sign up for a membership, it looks more likely that that is what I may do. I really love running on a treadmill so, if I do join, I think that is how I will do a lot of my running. I honestly haven’t decided just yet … but thus far, I have 2 gym workouts under my belt and I’ve enjoyed them both quite a bit.

I’m still doing a week long evaluation trial run at the gym, leading up to the final two weeks before my 5K run on April 7. I’ve decided to use a real training program for the final two weeks leading up to the run so that I can be as prepared as I can be for the race. As you can see in the schedule above, I’ll be running long then short runs every other day leading up to the 5K. I’m told that this kind of training schedule is best for race preparation. Left to my own devices, I’d prolly just run 3 miles a day for as many days as I can leading up to the race. Clearly, I don’t know what I’m doing. SO … I have a plan, we shall see how it works out. I really think I’m ready for the race … but the extra training will be welcome. I can’t even believe that I am actually talking about running in an actual race … in just a few days. I am still really far from being able to run a 13.1 half marathon but I never thought I’d be able to run 3 miles … and, well, here I am. Crazy.

Today is a rest day … but I have some biz to take care of this afternoon so I’ll have stuff to do. It’s still chilly and cold here in LA. I’m really looking forward to the return of the warm sun. Happy Tuesday.

First Look: Stephanie Meyerss The Host Releases A First Teaser Trailer

Now that The Twilight Saga film franchise is nearing its end, it’s time to move on to another cinematic offering from author Stephanie Meyer. While The Hunger Games takes the box office by storm this weekend, star Jennifer Lawrence is taking things … easy. J. Law was spotted doing a bit of grocery shopping here in SoCal this week all by her lonesome. I guess one could say she was hungry, eh? We don’t normally get to see photos of Jennifer out and about in the wild and off the red carpet … but now that The Hunger Games is about to catapult her into the celebrity stratosphere, I’m guessing we’ll get to see more photos of the young star doing regular people things.

My guess is that Jennifer is not yet used to being photographed when she’s out and about in public … and I sincerely hope she gets used to it/doesn’t mind it because her life is about to change. By and large, everyone seems to LOVE The Hunger Games film … and that means that anticipation for the follow up films Catching Fire and Mockingjay will make her even more high profile. Honestly, I couldn’t resist the chance to post these photos of “hungry” Jennifer Lawrence. She’s a star now … I hope she’s ready for it.

Nero Wolfe Was Big in the Annuls of Detective Stories

The difference between an actual PI or private investigator and say.... Thomas Magnum of the television series Magnum, PI is rules and regulation by which the "real thing" abides by. While there is no actual statutory control over the investigation industry within the United Kingdom there is an association to which all good law abiding PIs belong and that is the ABI or Association of British Investigators which was established way back in 1913.

With its series finale only 2 weeks away, CW's One Tree Hill is packing in its last few bits of drama before wrapping up after nine seasons...forever!!

And what good would the last few episodes be without some SURPRISES?!?

Viewers were shocked Wednesday night when one of their favorite characters made a surprise return after being killed off in the show's season 3!

Keith Scott, played by actor Craig Sheffer, wasn't necessarily brought back to life in Wednesday's episode, but he DID help walk his brother Dan into heaven!

The return of Keith was closely kept under wraps up until last night when it aired!!! An unspoiled appearance? Nice one, One Tree Hill! That is pretty impressive these days!

Paul Johansson, who played OTH's Dan, shared his views on Keith's season 3 write-off, saying:

I think murder is one of the worst things you can possibly do, especially to a wonderful soul like Keith, but it did two things: One, I think it saved the TV series, [Writer] Mark doing that. In a way, we were on our way out. Had Mark not made that episode and pushed it though, the show would not have gone nine years. And two, It created within the audience [the question], ‘What is Dan going to do now?’ Without that, a show can be bland and Mark wouldn’t allow that.

The long-running show's series finale will air on April 4.

Did U watch the episode? What did U think of the surprise return???

5 Van Halen Songs You Might Have Missed

Whenever packing to go abroad there are certain necessities I go through. Passport, toothbrush, boarding pass are all accounted for, but there is still one thing I have to have when travelling to make the time go by. Music. First it was the Walkman, then the discman and now my faithful iPod. But the music isn't just to stave off boredom, it's a sensory aide to enhance the atmosphere and provides a theme tune to your trip to remember it by.

Wow!

You cannot deny that he is committed to this cause!

Former Rage Against the Machine guitarist and Nightwachman Tom Morello was originally expected to perform at the Swan Dive in Austin for SXSW last night, but managed to turn his set into a full-blown Occupy gathering, which he organized in conjunction with Occupy Austin - and even after the police shut him down, he continued on!

Morello started his set for SXSW badge holders, but then informed them that a "people's stage" had been erected to broadcast the show on the street for the protestors and general public!

At last call, he then announced:

"I'm the pied piper of folk rock. I'm going to walk outside ... follow my guitar."

And then brought everyone outside and performed and impromtu set for the crowd that had already gathered! And when the police shut him down, he continued to teach the crowd the chorus to "World Wide Rebel Songs" so they could all sing together!

He explains:

"Frankly, I play a lot of shows like that, that are very unscripted. Whether it's with the Occupy movement or with different activist-oriented events. There's very little planning, there's often no PA, and the cops often pull the plug. It was a very inspiring night."

It certainly sounds like it was! That must have been so cool!

Keep standing together, guys!

Refurbished and Factory Second Guitars: The Secret to Massive Guitar Savings!

There are several theories as to what prompted Singer/Songwriter Jackson Browne to write his song "For a Dancer". The death of his friend? Jackson's wife's suicide? Who knows? Based on the comments written online by Browne's fans stating how this song has "helped" them, it seems we may not need to know the actual meaning behind this (or any) song.

The positive buzz for "21 Jump Street" continues! Just as it has been playing like gangbusters to audiences at sneak preview screenings all over the country, Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum's upcoming action-comedy brought the house down at its SXSW premiere Monday night in Austin. The film's positive reception wasn't at all unexpected given the advance praise but according to Hill, it might very well have been predestined in a sense.

"This is where, five years ago exactly, I was here with Paul Rudd for 'Knocked Up' and my agent called and asked me if I wanted to write '21 Jump Street' into a movie," Hill told MTV News of the film's SXSW beginnings at the SXSW-based press day. "So I started writing it in this hotel years ago. It’s crazy we’re back here talking about it now."

And because the festival holds such a special significance for Hill, who also served as a screenwriter and producer on the film, he and Tatum waited to screen the film with a live audience until their premiere yesterday.

"We haven’t seen with a crowd," he revealed. "I made Chan wait until South By because the crowd is going to be crazy. We’re waiting for tonight to watch the movie."

"Yeah, he’s been telling me since the beginning, ‘I can’t wait for you to see it [with that audience],'" Tatum added. "I’ve never done an out-and-out comedy like this, so I’m nervous but I’m excited."

When we caught up with the consistently-costumed duo later on in the evening (they've been wearing their costumes from the movie to all their promotional appearances) at the premiere's after party it was obvious that the SXSW audience had delivered on Hill's promise to Tatum that they would be crazy receptive. When I asked them separately how things went, they both grinned from ear to ear in recounting the awesome and unforgettable experience with the SXSW crowd.

Will you see "21 Jump Street" on opening day? Tell us in the comments or on Twitter!

Yesterday was a non-run day for me and it is AMAZING how quickly I was able to devolve into my old, lazy habits. Since I’m running every other day, yesterday turned out to be a non-run day for me. I’ve yet to start an actual running program (because I’m using this month to get my body used to regular physical fitness) so on my off days, well, I’m not doing anything. Actually, that’s not entirely true … my off day yesterday was spent lazing about … oh and eating pizza :/

Yeah, I’m not trying to become a health nut nor am I really working toward a healthier lifestyle … I’m mainly focused on fueling my body so that I can train it to run long distances. Was a dinner of pizza (and hot wings, ahem) the best idea last night? No. Am I perfect? Not by a long shot. BUT, I am feeling better about myself and I’m absolutely on plan to reach my goal. I realized yesterday that I have already run 12 miles collectively since I started training last week so after today’s run, I will have already run a half-marathon … in total. That’s pretty cool, I think :)

So yeah … plan for today is run my usual course (and hopefully run farther than I have thus far) and then … maybe see a movie tonight? I haven’t seen a movie in ages and I’m really due. It’s still chilly here in LA and it looks like it’s gonna be chilly for the rest of the week. Trust me, I’m not complaining but … I am starting to miss the warm SoCal air ;) Happy Tuesday!

OH and Happy Detroit Day! Today is 3/13 … and 313 is the Detroit area code so … Woot!!

Seven Laws Of The Universe and The Struggling Musician

As an independent creative music producer and performer, I am often accused of being experimental. Last night Jonah Hill hosted this weekend’s episode of Saturday Night Live (and was mildly entertaining, nothing at all special or worth talking about, to be honest) … one of the skits caught my attention … and not for the right reasons. One of the skits featured an all caucasian cast poking fun at Japanese J-Pop culture that started out cute and funny, IMHO, but as the stereotypes kept adding up … felt more and more … wrong. Click below to check out the skit and see what I mean.

As I said, I enjoyed the skit at first … but somewhere along the way, prolly as the “Japanese accents” got more and more ridiculous, the skit started to feel … just, wrong. I’m hesitant to call it outright racist but … that thought does keep rolling around in my mind. I honestly think that if the skit were mocking Mexican culture (like Cholo/Chola culture — even tho I don’t, personally, associate with Cholo/Chola culture) then I would find the skit unfunny and very racist. The accents are what really bother me. What do y’all think? Am I being overly sensitive or do you, too feel that this skit is really just … wrong?

Rap Beats Looking for Different Types of Rap Beats

Hey, kids. I may be a tad late to the party (story of my life) in declaring Pallbearer a "band to watch", considering their debut demo came out in 2010 and the band itself was formed in 2008. This sludgy, macabre and yet melodic combo from Little Rock, Arkansas have taken a jump in the deep end recently, however, with the release of the full length platter, "Sorrow and Extinction". Yes, it's about as cheery as it sounds, and that's a great thing for all the blackened souls that eat stuff like this up with a big, fat spoon (like, oh, I don't know, me).

Pallbearer: Band To Watch With Sorrow and Extinction

Recently, there has been some news in the music industry that some of the more mature folk will appreciate. The lead singer and most notable member of the Monkees, Davy Jones, died due to a sudden heart attack while taking care of his horses in Florida. This star, who caught the eye of producers over five decades ago, had a certain appeal that turned out to be one of his more admirable traits; he seemed to be happy all of the time.

The Greatest Jackson Five Album Covers

Last year one of my favorite artists, Amy Winehouse died of an apparent alcohol overdose. To most people it wasn't a surprise, because of the way she lived her life it was inevitable that she would be deceased soon if she didn't change her lifestyle. What perplexes me the most is the way the media and fans embrace tabloid rumors and drunken pictures of their favorite artists, while singing along to the beat of their songs.
