In today's music world there are so many artists to choose from. It is difficult as a musician to try and promote yourself while selling your music at a high price. Sometimes it is beneficial to the performer to actually release a compilation of the music they make for free. In the hip hop and rap community, producers and rappers will release what are known as mix tapes to the community for free.
